چکیده

An approach to developing and using Bayesian networks to model watershed management decisions is presented with a case study application to phosphorous management in the East Canyon watershed in Northern Utah, USA. The Bayesian network analysis includes a graphical model of the key variables in the system and conditional and marginal probability distributions derived from a variety of data and information sources. The resulting model is used to 1) estimate the probability of meeting legal water quality requirements for phosphorous in East Canyon Creek under several management scenarios, and 2) estimate the probability of increased recreational use of East Canyon Reservo ir and subsequent revenue under these scenarios.

A Bayesian Decision Network Engine for Internet-Based Stakeholder Decision-Making

In this paper, we present an Internet-based, Bayesian Decision Network engine to aid watershed stakeholders in collaborative decision-making. Recent years have seen an increased emphasis on including all affected parties in the process of making water resources and water quality management decisions (as in the TMDL program). Given the complexity of the models and data analysis tools that are ty...

Robust Opponent Modeling in Real-Time Strategy Games using Bayesian Networks

Opponent modeling is a key challenge in Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games as the environment is adversarial in these games, and the player cannot predict the future actions of her opponent. Additionally, the environment is partially observable due to the fog of war. In this paper, we propose an opponent model which is robust to the observation noise existing due to the fog of war. In order to cope...

A Surface Water Evaporation Estimation Model Using Bayesian Belief Networks with an Application to the Persian Gulf

Evaporation phenomena is a effective climate component on water resources management and has special importance in agriculture. In this paper, Bayesian belief networks (BBNs) as a non-linear modeling technique provide an evaporation estimation  method under uncertainty. As a case study, we estimated the surface water evaporation of the Persian Gulf and worked with a dataset of observations ...
